Our dental practice at Carey & Aylward, DDS, PC, is proud to participate in Michigan’s Healthy Kids Dental program. The Michigan Department of Community Health administers this program that ensures children qualifying for Medicaid who are younger than age 21 receive dental care. Medicaid Healthy Kids Program

The program is a partnership through Delta Dental and provides dental care to more than 506,000 Michigan children. To enroll, parents can call 1-800-482-8915. They can also visit www.deltadentalmi.com to find out more information about the program.

To enroll in the program, children must have parents that qualify as low income. Upon enrollment, parents do not have to pay a monthly premium. In addition to dental care, the Healthy Kids Program also provides vision and mental health services.

Healthy Kids Dental covers a number of services Drs. Carey and Aylward provide at their Westland office. These include, but are not limited to, oral exams, screenings, X-rays, teeth cleanings and fluoride treatments. Other preventive services include dental sealants and space maintainers. Treatments for cavities include filings, crowns and root canals. While there are always exceptions, some procedures that are not covered include bite guards, removal of healthy wisdom teeth and braces.

Dr. Carey and Dr. Aylward are proud to participate in this program as part of their commitment to helping kids maintain healthy teeth and prevent and treat cavities before they worsen. By starting needy children on the right track with routine dental care, they are less likely to miss school days and experience the pain, discomfort and tooth loss that can come with decay.
